Hi Tru-64 managers!
Hongya Zu posted a question to the list yesterday about building a web
server on Tru-64, so I thought I would post this to inform the Tru-64
community about another excellent (and also free) option for building a WEB
server on your Tru-64 machines.
In addition to the perennial favorite (Apache) there is also another
EXCELLENT option.
You can build a very nice web server that was written by (Dave Jones) at
Ohio State University.

The OSU Dec-Threads http daemon is one of the best and fastest WEB servers
available today (it is multi-threaded and it is also free). It is a
particularly good option for those of you that may be running both OpenVMS
and Tru-64 in your environments since it runs on both DU and OpenVMS (both
Alpha and VAX) and is very robust and dependable.
Setup of OSU is very much like the original CERN web server.
I have run a 7x24 manufacturing information system this web server (on
OpenVMS) since 1994 with virtually zero downtime and no performance or
security problems serving over 10,000 users on a global corporate intranet.
It has been a while since I compiled it on Tru64, but I am sure it will
build there without too many problems. There is also an excellent (and very
helpful) mailing list for the server.
