The Systems andf Options Catalog (R.I.P.) for the DS10 says that it can
only support a maximum of one SCSI controller. I know that what is
"supported" means "what Compaq has tested"; is there any reason why
more controllers should cause the DS10 any trouble? I know I can simply
try it and see, but perhaps asking here might return some insight into
the advertised restriction (eg, is it technical or marketing-driven!).
To be more specific, I would like to provide some redundancy by
mirroring a set of drives with LSM, and naturally it would be best to
have the mirrored disks on separate busses (I was thinking in terms of
2x KZPCA here). In addition the system must host a tape drive (DLT4000)
and for various reasons, perhaps merely superstition, I would rather
have it on a separate bus from the disks. If nothing else, the DLT
would prevent the KZPCA from operating in LVD mode. Would adding a
third controller (preferably KZPBA, or KZPAA at a pinch) be pushing
things beyond the design of the DS10?
Thanks for any and all opinions,
