memory on an ES40

We were noticing that the new online owners manual for the ES40 (unlike the
paper one we have) talks about memory interleaving. Does anyone know how this
really effects speed on this machine? We currently have one we use to run
weather models that has a 512MB module and a 2GIG module. Would we gain
significant speed by pulling out the 2 GIG module and filling all the slots with
the same size modules?

If we were to do this, which other machines will this memory fit into? DS20?
DS10? XP1000?
