In summary most indicated that trinitron tube based monitors (Sony makes the
tube but other monitor makers can package the tube besides Sony) were the go
for clarity/reliability/resolution. The sort of thing you want with good
graphics displays. Some were talking about monitors that had been in use for
5-7 years on graphical applications.
No one mentioned the new Sony monitors which are flat in both the vertical
and horizontal directions. Or should I say no one mentioned them
specifically, I'm not sure if Sony are selling this tube under the trinitron
banner. I'm not sure how long they have been on the market, we have just
acquired 2 of these, but its still early days for my money.
John mentioned the new flat panels -
The new flat-panel displays from Apple (including the new 22" Apple Cinema
Display, 3x brighter than an equivalent CRT, but at US$4000, still a bit
dear, but absolutely scrumptious with 1920 by 1024 (16:9) resolution).
I have not seen those in Australia, but then I don't get to many gear shows.
Dennis
