Mixing NFS Digital Unix and Linux

        Greetings,
I have a mixed network containing Tru64 Unix and Linux machines
that mount each others disk via NFS. I can get reasonable transfer rates
performing NFS copies from Linux to Linux, Tru64 to Linux and Tru64 to
Tru64. Unfortunately, the NFS transfer rate from Linux to Tru64 is
abysmal. If I look at the packets transferred during a Linux-Tru64 copy
it appears as though there is "reply" packet that is sent after each
buffer write. The interesting part is that the sending of this packet
takes a few times 10 msec to complete. By the far, the major of time
spent in transferring the file is the sending of the reply packet not
the transfer of the buffers. I have tried mounting with -o async and
varying the rsize and wsize to no avail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
        doug
