Hi,
We have a customer that want to buy a more powerfull machines (x3),
this customer discuss with IBM and Compaq to provide two machines one
per manufact and he want to select the more performance machine.
The machine we provide as a test machine is GS140 under TRU64 4.0F.
It has:
* 4 EV6 cpus 700Mhz
* 4 Go of memory
* 12 disks RZ1DD-VW and 2 disks RZ1ED-VW all this disks are
10000 RPM
* RA8000 with:
+ 1 RAID controler.
+ 64 Mo of cache
The customer would like to install "Universs Globus" in the two
machines and lunch the same application in the two machine at the same
time, the first who respond is the type of machine that he is going to
buy.
I'm wondering if anyone can make any suggestions of:
* tuning the GS140 to give the most performance (kernel param) ?
* how can the FS be dispatched (swap in one disk or any, root,
usr and var in different disk ?
* what type of raid.
* have i to encapsulate the system disk with LSM and mirror it,
or have i to add a raid controler, or nothing to do to system disk?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have!
Note: IBM are going to provide S80!!!!
