[Q] Quotas from Tru64 to Linux.

All our user home directories are on alpha workstations running
Tru64 4.0F and exported to a mixed network mostly Tru64 4.0F
and RedHat Linux 6.1.

The Linux boxes report the quota correctly and normally attempts to
exceed the quota from a Linux box fail but sometimes the Linux
boxes are managing to confuse the alphas about disk usage.

In the most extreme case a user was able to write a 2GB file filling
the disk partition. du -sk showed he was using more than 2GB of file
space but quota showed him with only about 3MB! After the huge file
was removed quota still showed about 3MB. It wasn't until I ran
quotacheck that it showed the correct amount.

There have been other times when quota showed lower than the actual
usage until quotacheck was run. I've never seen this before exporting
to Tru64 or HP-UX: only with mounts from Linux.

Has anyone else seen this? Does anyone know of a fix?

(I'd rather not have to run quotacheck every few minutes.)

(I didn't see anything that looked relevant in patch kit 2 for 4.0F.)

Thanks
Ian
