My question was about NFS mounts to Linux screwing up the
quota system on Tru64 4.0F. Specifically quota was showing
lower than the actual file system usage, sometimes much lower.
Thanks to Simon Greaves, Alan Davis, Irene A. Shilikhina and
William H. Magil for their replies.
I didn't find a solution but from what William says the
problem is most likely on the Linux side. Alan suggested
I run it by Compaq Service which I might do soon.
For the moment I'm going to run quotacheck nightly and see
what happens and hope that the problem is fixed in the
next RedHat linux release - due out soon I believe.
(Irene pointed out another problem which is not related but
worth mentioning anyway. The startup scripts in /sbin/init.d,
testing variables set in /etc/rc.config, aren't consistent.
Some test for yes and some for YES. None test both.)
