We have a requirement from a customer to be able to recover a 15GB Oracle
database within one hour. We have a good handle on ways to deal with hardware
problems that impact them, but would like any ideas/experiences on ways to
recover from user errors. The requirement is for a warm backup - if a
tablespace is removed inadvertently, either the table space or the database
needs to be restored within one hour. The desired availability for this
database is 24X7 so we don't have the ability to take the database down and wait
for a copy to be made. Taking the database down, creating a clone, and then
copying the clone is a possibility, but if there are better ways I'd like to
look into them.
If anyone is doing anything like this, I'd apppreciate a summary of what you are
doing to accomplish the warm backup.
We do have plans to implement things such as clustering, but that isn't a short
term project at this point.
