Hi, Alex, Robert, Andrija, Gene L, udo, alan, Saulo:
Thank all of you very much for your help!

In order to construct a RAID 0+1 storageset out of a given set of disk drives,
you must first construct at least two RAID 1 storagesets, each using at least
two disk drives. Therefore you will have a storage configuration that looks
like this (if you will permit me to use some symbols).

        M1: (D1, D2),
        M2: (D3, D4),
        M3: (D5, D6).

Therefore I now have three mirrorsets (Mi) each containing two disk drives (Dj).

Now I can create a single three-way stripe set (the 0 part of RAID 0 + 1) using
     M1, M2 and M3.

        S1: (M1, M2, M3).

     Therefore S1 is now a three-way RAID 0+1 volume containing M1, M2 and M3 where
each of M1, M2 and M3 are RAID 1 volumes containg two disk drives each.

In order to configure RAID 0+1 with controller supplied by DEC you need at
       least for disks.

On RA2xx for instance you should choose immediatly RAID0+1 option.

I checked, if you have HSZ controllers then you should first make mirror sets
(RAID 1) and then you should create stripe sets (RAID 0) of mirror sets.
  (3) Mr. Lee wrote:
That depends on what kind of controller or software you are using. In
theory, the best way to approach this is to set up mirroring (RAID 1) of
disks in groups of 2. Then set up a stripe set across the mirrored disks.

I assume this is for an HSZ-class controller. Set up several mirrorsets,
then create a stripeset with those mirrirs as members, e.g.

       create mirror m1 disk10100 disk10200
       create mirrir m1 disk10300 disk10400
       create stripe s1 m1 m2

      RAID 0 is striping
      RAID 1 is mirroring
RADI 0+1 is striping and mirroring

You can set up RAID 0+1 using LSM mirroring.
Or if you prefer using Hardware RAID 0+1 you have to install a
      controller like HSZ40, HSZ50, HSZ70 or HSG80 etc.

You haven't provided enough information about what you're
using; LSM, an HS family array controller, a backplane
RAIDarray, some 3rd party thing? The method depends on
        the hardware and software involved.

We are using HSZ70. Thank you all for your helps.
Your mails make me understand how to set the Raid 0+1. Thanks!
  B.R.
