Hi,
Apologies it this question has been asked already, although I searched
the archives and found several questions in the same vein, but couldn't
find answers to my particular problem:
I intend to mirror a set of existing AdvFS domains. The existing configuration
is, in summary:
2 domains of ~18GB each
3 domains totalling ~9GB
All spread over 6x9GB disks
I want to mirror this using LSM and another 6x9GB disks. In order to
maximise availability I intend to take the following steps to move everything
into LSM mirror-sets without doing a system shutdown:
1. Create LSM volumes on the new disks.
2. Use AdvFS to add the new LSM volumes to the existing domains.
3. Use AdvFS to remove the old volumes (raw disk partitions), thereby
migrating all the data onto the new LSM volumes.
4. Create LSM volumes on the old disks and add them to LSM as mirrors
of the new disks.
Is this a feasible approach? Has anyone tried it? Any gotchas I should
be aware of?
Regards,
Declan Lennon
