As a follow-on to Robert Carsey's summary about AdvFS v4.0 BMT chains,
one of our writers who follows this list commented to me:
------- Forwarded Message
I'm the AdvFS technical writer and I read the Unix managers list. I don't
know if people are aware of "AdvFS Administration" because sometimes I see
questions (like that below) that the book can answer. The latest version is
available at
http://www.unix.digital.com/faqs/publications/pub_page/doc_list.html
then System and Network Management Documentation. For Version 5.0, the URL is
http://www.unix.digital.com/faqs/publications/base_doc/DOCUMENTATION/V50_HTML/ARH96ATE/TITLE.HTM
I hesitate to answer people on the list directly, so I'd appreciate it if
you could point them in the right direction. Also, I welcome any feedback
you can provide so that I can improve the usefulness of the documentation.
------- End of Forwarded Message
Prior to V5.0, we did not include this very informative manual in the base
documentation (it was separately orderable but you had to know how to find
the part number), and for some time it wasn't on the Web, but now it is on
the Web (as noted above) for V4.0x and also included as part of the normal
documentation kit for the base OS product in V5.0 and later (so it's on the
documentation CDROM).
As our writer noted, we are ALWAYS interested in feedback on our product,
and almost all the manuals include information on providing feedback (in
most cases, there is an e-mail address you can use, although "snail mail"
is also acceptable).
I personally pass along useful suggestions to product managers, as I am
sure others do as well. It's not a perfect mechanism (few things are), but
we do want to hear your feedback and use it to improve the product.
