AXP assembler help required for PostgreSQL

Dear all,

I have been recently involved in using PostgreSQL quite heavily and in
particular in supporting the {OSF/1,Digital Unix,Tru64 Unix} port.
There seems to be a major problem in the code for spinlocks and it
really requires an assembler guru to have a look at it.

The code itself is very short but, as the comments in the relevant
file (src/include/storage/s_lock.h) mention, there is a problem with
AXP stuff. At the moment the code uses semaphores, hardly the fastest
method...

If anyone who is good at assembler (perhaps at Compaq?) could have a
look at the code I am sure that the PostgreSQL community would be
immensely grateful.

Thanks,

Arrigo
