get rid of /tmp_mnt

OSF1 seems to have this real annoying habit of tacking on /tmp_mnt to all
my automounts. I looked at the man page on OSF1's automounter and it has
this option "-M" to specify something other than /tmp_mnt, but it requires
an argument! Is there a way to remove this /tmp_mnt thing entirely?
Is there a way to turn this "feature" off?
Example, if I cd to /home/joeuser on our HP's and Sun's, the pwd is
"/home/joeuser". But on the OSF1 machines, it says "/tmp_mnt/home/joeuser".
I just don't get why the /tmp_mnt is ever there in the first place. What
is the purpose of it?
