Network Problem with ping and telnet

All-

I know I'm overlooking something really obvious but:

I have two machines on different subnets, call them A and B.
A can telnet or rsh to B but B will not answer A's ping attempt.
B can telnet, rsh and ping at A with no problem.

Why doesn't the A to B ping respond?
