Hi all,
I have this problem of continually locked password an group files.
When I run adduser it exits saying that the passwd & group files are
locked, but no-one else is loged into root and no-one else can open them.
I deleted the files vipw.lock in /etc and in /etc/ptmp to no avail.
Users can change passwords fine and get their mail (the system is our POP
mail server - no shell logins) and so can root, but we just can't add new
accounts.
Are there any other lock files I need to look for and does anyone know
what could be causing this?
Sorry if i've left off some info, i'm a VMS sys admin who is just getting
into unix (and our unix admin is away).
The system is running Tru64 v 4.0F.
All help much appreciated.
