Hi...
I'm asking this on behalf of a colleague. I have searched the archives but
cant see anything similar:
For hardware reasons that I wont go into, we are in the position of having a
TZ89 drive connected to an HSZ70 which has the unit number P401. i.e.., a
non zero LUN.
We have another TZ89 in the same HSZ70 which has unit number p400. The
device special file creates just fine with a ./MAKEDEV tznnn (where nnn is
bus*8 + 4). We can access the tape ok.
However, if we try to do a ./MAKEDEV tzbnnn (i.e.., the 'b' for the LUN of
1), the MAKEDEV fails (I don't have the FAILURE error message to hand).
Have had a quick look thru the HSZ70 manual but cant see anything relating
to this - obviously MAKEDEV is a DUNIX feature and seems not to be discussed
in the HSZ manuals.
The question is - is a non zero LUN for a tape device supported? If so, how
do we create the tape device special files?
We don't have the option of changing the unit number to that with a non zero
LUN as all non zero unit numbers are already in use.
Thanking you in anticipation.
regards - Tony Miller
