[Q] Compaq Analyse and security

Dear all,

I need to place a machine, namely a DS20, on the outer network at
our premises and I really need it to run Tru64. This machine will be
running an experimental service particular to our company and nothing
else (I really mean nothing, no sendmail, no ftp, nothing except for
OpenSSH to get in, and that is monitored too).

Now, someone raised the issue of Compaq Analyse and all that needs to
be installed. I've poured over the docs and there doesn't seem to be
any way out of installing the whole thing although all I want (and I
presume a number of others amongst us) is the old uerf/dia
interface.

I am sure that Compaq Analyse has been security vetted, etc, etc. but
I really don't see the need for all the stuff it installs and in
particular the size doesn't inspire the least confidence in its
security.

Does anyone have any idea as to how one might go about stripping down
this Analyse stuff and getting something stand-alone which doesn't
open TCP ports and the like? Basically I just want uerf/dia back...

Thanks,

Arrigo
