Hi,
I have an alpha server which I tried to upgrade the
firmware from 5.3 to 5.7. The system had worked fine
with 4.0F, but wanted to clean things up before moving to
5.0A. I booted the CD and after it said jumping to bootstrap
code it sat there for perhaps 20 minutes until I finally gave up
and ejected the CD, power cycled and attempted to bring it
back up.
Well, now, even though the systems makes the lovely "checking"
noises it always made before, I get no countdown (eb, ec, e...etc)
It gives me (and this is terrible) the Bios screen then jumps to the Blue
screen and then makes the noises and then hangs.
Now, according to status lights in the back, it says it has an error at
mem test #4, but before I tried the firmware update, it had no such error.
Any ideas on where to look or how to get at least a console prompt
back again??
