SCSI controller for Tru64 Unix 4.0D

I'm trying to find out what SCSI controllers are available for an
Alpha1000A running Tru64-4.0D. My first thought was an Adaptec 2940, but
I found an old entry in the archives of this mailing list saying that it
is a no-go.
What alternatives are available?
