Managers:
I'm having difficulty getting a DEC 3000/500 to boot from a
4.0F CD. As best as I can tell, the machine hardware is ok. This was
a production VMS machine until last week.
I've followed the machine-specific boot intsructions from the
Installation Manual (these alone lead me to believe I'm not trying the
impossible!), and what happens is the machine goes through a series of
tests, and reults in the following output:
>>> boot dka400
..
AUDIT_BOOT_STARTS ...
AUDIT_CHECKSUM_GOOD
AUDIT_LOAD_BEGIN
AUDIT_LOAD_DONE
?05 HLT INSTR
PC=00000000.20000000 PSL=00000000.00001F00
>>>
Before spending the weekend configuring an RIS server, does
anyone have any helpful clues as to why the machine refuses to boot?
Thanks!
- Jeff
