Hi.
Im trying to get OpenSSL working on two systems running Compaq Tru64 UNIX
5.0. The systems are a DEC Alphaserver 4100 with 1 300mhz proc and 512MB
RAM, and a DEC Alphaserver 800 with a 533 proc and 128MB of RAM. On both
systems, when i run make to build OpenSSL, it fails saying "not enough
virtual memory to complete compilation". This is really odd on these
machines, because both have copious amounts of swap space as well. Is
there any reason that building OpenSSL on these machines would eat up way
more memory than normal? The machines are mostly idle with a load of 0.01
or something close to that.
It seems really weird that i can build OpenSSL on a Sun SPARCstation 10,
or a feeble pentium system, but not these systems. Can anyone recommend a
way to either patch the source tree in some way, tweak the systems
themselves, or otherwise get the build to work? I would like to avoide
having to buy an SSL package, or memory if i can help it. Given that
nothing else seems to mind the amount of memory I have, I am inclined to
say its the software. Heres the other specs:
OpenSSL version : 0.9.5a
CC = /bin/cc
make = /bin/make
I have tried GNU CC and GNU make also, with the same failed results.
Any ideas?
