Managers,
My question was:
====================================================================
I am working on installing/configuring StorageWorks Command Console
(SWCC) to replace the use of HSZTERM to manage & monitor our HSZ50s.
The process outlined in the release notes (hszerie.txt) outlines
setting up a RAIDSET to be used as the virtual disk that will be used
as the communications LUN to establish a connection between the
subsystems and the Command Console Agent on the host systems.
I already have a number of MIRRORSETS setup & would have to use some
of the disks I have setup for SPARESETS to create the RAIDSET. Then
these disks would only be used for the virtual disk for the
communications LUN.
Does anyone know if it is a "set in stone" requirement that this be a
RAIDSET? I can see where this would prevent loss due to a bad disk,
but it would mean losing 3 SPARESET disks to set this up.

I received responses from:
Alan Nabeth - halan_at_nabeth.cxo.dec.com
Joe Ledesma - joe_ledesma_at_hotmail.com
Both indicated that I could use any logical unit.
I installed the SWCC Device Management & HS Series Agents & during
the configuration process an existing logical unit was automatically
selected & stored in the /usr/opt/SWCC204/etc/storage.ini file.
I was then able to add the system to the SWCC Client running on my PC
& view the configuration stored in the HSZ50.
