thanx to: david norton, tom linden, becky gaster, j bacher., leo kliger,
larye parkins, allan e. johannesen, dr tom blinn.

i had to make a minor change to my hostname.m4 file to include the
params for _transINET and _gateINET to forward outgoing mail to the
proxy. and i also had to make a simple change to majordomo by removing
the server name from the domainname entry and from the entries in the
aliases file. my vindication came as the dns and webservers (and
everything else for that matter) on the Alphaserver was configured and
operating correctly. the root of the problems were from the new NT proxy
server which was not configured correctly and in some cases not at all.
this list is awesome and i appreciate all your help and ideas.
thanx!
