We were running a printer off a regular PC's paralell port and it worked
just fine.
We were running an old HP LJ II off the 2100 paralell port and it worked
just fine,
until the printer died (of natrual causes - Old Age I think).
We now placed the printer that was on the PC, upto the 2100 port, and now
the
printer is acting very strange, it is receiving the data correctly (per a
hex dump
the printer supplied), but when it's not in a monitor mode, it doesn't
print. When
I called the printer company, they wanted to know what mode my paralell port
was in, whether it was setup as uni-directional or bi-directional.
Now, If we setup this same printer using a serial cable (it will do both),
it works
just fine when it receives the same job as was sent over the paralell port.
I also hooked up this printer to one of our Rapid Print Print Server's
paralell
port and the job printed without a problem
What would the paralell port on the AS2100 do differently, that the paralell
port
on a PC, and the rapid prints don't or do??
Thanks
George
