Hello group!
I have a customer who has two HSZ70's in dual redundant mode. Each
controller has 128mb of cache. The customer is designing a raw device for
use under Oracle 7 Production Server/Tru-Cluster. He has (6) 9.0gb drives
in a Raid-5 set. During the creation of the raidset you have the ability to
use the default chunksize of 256 or increase the chunksize to 409. Is there
any benefit to increasing the chunksize? If so what is the correct
chunksize based on an Oracle database using 8k db_block_size.
The default chunksize is 256 blocks? To get the chunksize in bytes how
do you convert the blocks to bytes (multiple by 8, 512, 1024)?
One final question. The customer understands that you set the
preferred_id on each controller so that you can place one unit on one
controller D0 and the other unit on the other controller D1. The first
controller would have preferred_is 0,2 and the second controller would have
preferred_id 1,3. The customer also found that there is a preferred setting
when you create the unit. Do you have to set both preferred_id's
(controller and unit) or does one overtake the other's settings.
Thanks in advance.
