running rsh in a C2 environment

Managers,

I am trying to do

  rsh machineB date

from machineA to machineB. I get the error

  socket: protocol failure on circuit setup.

Enhanced security (C2) has been setup on machineA only. The .rhosts file
and the netgroup and the hosts.equiv file have been setup appropriately.

A simple

  rsh machineB

actually logs me into machineB from machineA. All machines are running
Tru64 UNIX V4.0F PK#3.

How can I get remote command execution working again?
