ddr.dbase entry for Symmetrix

Hi,

One of our customers is running Digital UNIX 4.0D and connected to Symmetrix
3930. They've noticed the performance is not very optimal and after some
investigation, we've noticed that there is no Symmetrix entry on the
/etc/ddr.dbase. Somehow this procedure was left out during the initial
installation. According to the EMC manual, we should add the ff entry to
this file and then compile it using ddr_config.

SCSIDEVICE
#
# EMC SYMMETRIX
#
Type = disk
Name = "EMC" "SYMMETRIX"
#
PARAMETERS:
TypeSubClass = hard_disk, raid
BlockSize = 512
BadBlockRecovery = disabled
DynamicGeometry = true
DisperseQueue = false
LongTimeoutRetry = enabled
ReadyTimeSeconds = 45
TagQueueDepth = 8
InquiryLength = 160
RequestSenseLength = 160
PwrMgmt_Capable = false

Question:

As the Symmetrix is now in production with live data, what's the impact if
we did the above procedure right now? Will it cause any lost of data or data
integrity problem? Any potential issues that may arise if we do it or any
issues if we don't do it?

Thanks in advance.
