My conclusion is there won't be any issue in terms of data integrity. I'll
be putting in the changes this weekend on a development server first.
Below is the reply from Alan and my original question follows.
"First, find out if it takes a reboot to start using a
new entry or not. I don't know, but if it does the
question isn't relevant; the system won't be live when
the new characteristics are put in use. Unless you're
changing the sector size the other parameters should
have any affect on the static data. DynamicGeometry
may change the default partition table, but if the disk
is already labeled that won't affect anything unless
you clear it and write a new label.
A change in InquiryLength and RequestSenseLength, may
affect the SCSI driver, as might enabling tagged command
queuing. But these might be relatively static parameters
anyway."
