Hello again,

thanks to Larry Clegg, Bob Klenotiz and Matthias Dolder who
responded. Not to forget Alan Hinden from Compaq.

Bob said that all KGPSA's had to be placed onto the same
PCI bus. Matthias also said that the ES40 seems to be very picky
about PCI bus placement of the KGPSA's and suggested to
unplug ONE of them. I removed the Fibre on pgb and yes,
the installation CD booted through! I could finish installing
V5.0A and the TCS SW. I then installed PK1 of V5.0A. This
brought the EMX FW to V1.22 and from then on I could boot
my systems with all KGPSA's connected.

So thanks to all of you (especially -mad) who led me to the
right direction here.

Regards,

Arnold Sutter, UDT

Hello Managers,

we tried all afternoon to boot with the V5.0A installation
CD an ES40 (V5.7-8x FW) with dual KGPSA-CA on a Multibus
HSG80 (NSPOF config) on ACS 8.5F.

The boot process did hang after displaying the third
IntraServer combo card entry on the console.

Removing the KGPSA's from the FC fabric did not hang
the system, but this left me with no disks to install
to since we wanted to have ALL disks behind the HSG80.
Reconnecting the fibre plugs and running 'hwmgr -scan scsi'
did provide me the units indeed but installation refused
to continue saying the latter discovered disks don't
qualify for installation ... :-(

Is it at all legal to have all units behind a HSG80? - So
far I did not find anything that is saying it wasn't but
then, I might not have read everything on this subject
yet ... ;-)

Thanks much already for any experiences you may want to
share on this!

Best Regards,

Arnold Sutter, UDT

P.S.: .. and yes we did all the 'wwidmgr' configurations
that were to do
P.S.S.: Next thing I'd try is to rip an EMA12000 disk out
and put it into the ES40 drive cage and get the UNIX disk
installed there before moving on to TCS ..
