Hai unix managers

We are in the process of upgrading the existing disks to 9.1 gb ultra SCSI
drives. We are having a alpha server 4100 running digital unix 4.0E with i
GB memory in RAID- 1 environment and the partion information is furnished
below.

Device Partion Size in KB In use Domain

re0 A 262144 90630 root
            B 1024000 swap
            C 2903040 1004616 usr

re1 C 4189184 3623186 kerr

re0 C 8886272 6714408 data

re3 A 2098556 373748 data
            B 2090627 swap

We were warned that changing the size of the root partion without proper
tuning procedures may result in a software crash. Please throw some light on
the issue. Thanks in advance.
