It was suggested to use the Decevent tool (command is 'dia' when installed).
(It can be downloaded from www.support.compaq.com/svctools)
# dia -R -i configuration | more
This will tell you per memory-slot the size of the installed DIMMS.
The following command should tell you what you want. You can get this from
the DEC event system through the dia command. The option -i configuration
is to look at the system configuration. The option -o brief is to not see
all the detail. The option -R is to look at the most recent. The pipe to
more is to control the output to screen. The "/Total Memory" should be
entered after output is displayed to your screen. It searches for the
"Total Memory" phrase, which is above the "Module Size" and memory location
information. Type a "q" to stop the more.
dia -i configuration -o brief -R | more
/Total Memory
q
other suggestions
-The only way I know is to access the show dev at the console.
In general, it's not something the OS needs to know
about.
-Depending on the system design, you may be able to "open the box" and
look at the memory without powering the system off first.
-Depending on what memory kit you have it will either be 2x MS340-DA (8x
128Mb dimms) or 1x MS340-EA (4x256Mb dimms)
