Alternative way to mount advfs file systems

Is there any way to mount an advfs partition without
recreating a domain/fileset for it? I do not want to
destoy the data in the partition. The filesystem
does not have an adequate backup(long story).

Also what does the: mount -t [no]type .... command spec mean?
