5.0A instalation on a GS140

We recently acquired a used GS140. This came with a memory channel card
in one of the PCI plugin units. Our aim was ultimately make a cluster
with this machine and another Alpha8400 we have. Anyway I did a fresh
install of 5.0A on this machine (our Alpha8400 is still running 4.0E).
The first thing I noticed was disk naming convention has changed; the
disks are now named dsk0,dsk1 etc. It seems even if we change the order
of controller cards, the disk names would remain the same. The other
thing I noticed was that some of the files in /etc were actually links
to files on

/cluster/members/{memb}/etc

I didn't actally install the cluster software from "Associated Products"
CD-2. Does 5.0A install this way even if you have only one system? Or
was it installed this way because the install process sensed the memory
channel card and assumed this machine is going to be part of a cluster.

Are there any web resources for learning more about Compaq True
clustering software?

thanks
