I installed 5.1 on my alphastation 500/500. Among other problems,
lpr is giving segmentation faults when I try to print to our
HP Laserjet 8100DN. I can print fine to our Tektronix printers.
Both the text and postscript queues fault for the HP.
e.g.
aloha> lpr contribution_changes.ps
Segmentation fault
aloha>
I thought originally it might be unhappy because I was using
a print server, but I sent the file to the printer directly
and it still faults.
This is all that shows up in lpr.log:
Oct 4 17:24:37 aloha lpd[7188]: DEBUG -- lpr/mktemps: waiting for flock on .seq
file
Oct 4 17:24:37 aloha lpd[7188]: DEBUG -- lpr/mktemps: got flock on .seq file
The relevant printcap entry is like:
ourprinter|lp|lp0|0|HP LaserJet 8100DN (remote):\
:rm=ourprinter.our.domain:\
:rp=text:\
:sd=/usr/spool/ourprinter:
After the segfault, the files left in the spooling directory
are only the tfA files, i.e.:
# ls -l tfA192aloha.nascom.nasa.gov
-rw-rw---- 1 daemon system 23 Oct 4 17:32
tfA192aloha.nascom.nasa.gov
# cat tfA192aloha.nascom.nasa.gov
Haloha.nascom.nasa.gov
#
The permissions on the hp's spool directory are the same as the others.
