SUMMARY: Bootable tape fails to boot

It appears that bootable tape is not supported in UNIX 4.0E on an
AlphaServer 800.
It was suggested that after all a better solution would be just buying an
extra disk and making a bootable disk image (a spare system disk).

Hello Managers

On an AlphaServer 800 5/500 with UNIX 4.0E and PK4 I have tried to make a
bootable tape using the 'btcreate' command (choosing mainly the default
options).
At the console-prompt I then try to boot on the tape, using the following
command:
>>> boot -fl "nc" MKA500
I found the '-fl "nc"' in some man page, don't know what it does. Have also
tried without it - same result.

All I get is the following line, and then it just hangs after that:
record 0 of mka500.5.0.5.0 is a valid boot block

Any ideas why? - and how to make it work?
