Apache-SSL / openssl on tru64 5.0A

I've seen a few posts on asking about this but I've not seen any
conclusive answers: I'm trying to build and setup Apache-SSL with openssl
on a tru64 5.0A machine. I can get the packages built -- openssl-0.9.6,
Apache_1.3.12 ssl_1.41.1 , but I'm having a problem generating the test
certificates. I know that tru64 doesn't have kernel /dev/random and have
downloaded egd-0.8 and I've started it, but I don't think the openssl
routines are aware of it, or I don't know how to properly get it going. I
tried to set the RANDFILE environment variable to my /tmp/entropy, but I
always get the not seeded error. Perhaps I didn't get openssl-0.9.6 (I've
also tried openssl-0.9.5a) properly configured for egd -- I couldn't see
anywhere anything specific for egd.

Anyone know exactly what to do to get openssl to function with egd and if
there are any issues with Apache-SSL on tru64 5.0A ?

I was able to build the packages under Linux/Alpha -- RedHat 6.2 and the
test certificates worked there, but I want to run on tru64 5.0A.

Thanks for any help.
