Hi all,

Thanks to Nick Hill, Steven Hancock and Larry De Clay who all pointed out
that UFS file systems are read only for clusters and not for stand-alone
machines.

Original posting:

I have just installed Tru64 Unix version 5.1 on a GS160, and after choicing
a custom layout, I was surprised that I was prompted to choose between a UFS
and an AdvFS file system for /, /usr and /var. As I understand it, with the
advent of version 5.*, UFS is only mountable as a read-only file system.

Is this a bug in the install script, or is my memory failing me?
