More info:

Sorry for the not very clear info earlier.

It's an ISDN based solution, between 2 locations,
to save money, the routers disconnect after 20 min. of no activity
even when there are telnet sessions running ( with no activity )

It's more a general question, not really a UNIX version issue I think.

what will happen?

When somebody tries to use the telnet session after the router has
disconnected
and again tries to use the session. It's PC to Alpha communication.

Thanks for the respones so far,

Niels Roetert.

People,

If I telnet via a router to a Tru64UNIX machine,
and don't use the session for like 20 min.

The router disconnect's.

What will happen to my telnet session
when the router brings the session back up?

My guess the connection will be gone??

Can I prefend this from happening, a time out parameter on telnet maybe??

TIA,
