Hello -
Here is the scoop:
If you want to emulate a TZxx tape device, and automatically load a tape
after issuing the "mt rewoffl" command to a TL891, the loader configuration
option can be set to "sequential". Unfortunately, when you set the TL891
loader option to "sequential", the mcutil and MRU tools are effectivly
disabled. Basically, the TL891 loader option must be set to "random", if
you plan on using mcutil, MRU, or whatever backup tool you have in place,
such as Networker.
I did speak at length with the Compaq silver team and there was no Tru64
work-around for this problem. I called the vendor of the TL891, and their
answer, to quote from the great Rudy Bosch of the Survivor Series, was: "I
don't know."
The problem with switching between the "sequential" and "random" settings on
the TL891 only pertains to Tru64, but not to OpenVMS, says Compaq.
Thanks.
