Hello,
Dr. Blinn responded," ... Something is seriously hosed.. Good luck, you may
need it."
Thanks also to: Martin Moore and Michael Bucholtz.
I know we've all wanted to do this and in my 15+ years of system
management, I think this is the first time I've ever been able... I'm
throwing the darned old computer away. Still working well enough to ftp my
files to a 433au which I got when a CAD user got a zoomy new repentium.
Thanks for the help.

If it's base security, perhaps you have a hosed /etc/passwd file. If
it's enhanced security, perhaps the same issue. Something is seriously
hosed.. Good luck, you may need it.
