Problems with makedbm building passwd.byuid map

Hello,

I'm having problems with our NIS master building
the passwd.byuid maps on V4.0E . I get an error stating

problem storing <snip map entry>

Our maps are quite large and I was wondering if there is
a limitation for makedbm and if there is a way around this
without having to change the format to btree etc.
