Firstly apologies for the time between original posting and summary.

At long last the problem is resolved, it required some additional reading by
myself and some help from Compaq services.

It turns out that there is a limitation with the SCSI ID's of tape libraries
configured behind a fibre channel tape controller.
The Compaq services man had heard that they needed to be sequential and when
they were set by him as follows:
Robot: 2
Tape 1: 3
Tape 2: 4

It worked !!! My additional reading of the Enterprise Backup Solution
documentation revealed that the ID's should be set as follows:
Robot: 1
Tape 1: 2
Tape 2: 3
And this is the only fully supported configuration.

Incidentally none of this information is supplied in either the TL891
manuals or Fibre Channel Tape Controller-II manuals supplied with the
hardware (only in the EBS manuals which are all written with NT in mind -
yuk !!).

Hello Again

Does anyone have any experience of configuring a fibre channel tape
controller II with Tru64 V4.0x.

I have configured one with V5.0a with no problem.

The configuration is : ES40 (KGPSA) -> Switch -> FC-TC II -> TL892 (with two
TZ89 drives)

The problem appears to be that the FC-TC II presents the tape drives within
the library with a non-zero LUN's.
On the TL891 the ID's are:
Robot Arm 0
Tape Drive 4
Tape Drive 5

Unix sees the robot arm but not the drives. Obviously Tru64 copes with
non-zero LUN disks by using the
rzx naming convention.

Are non-zero LUN tapes supported ?
