Hello...

We have been sucesfully using networker/5.0a/tlz9l tape drive to backup a 5.0a server, a few 4.0d clients and
a few linux clients. Lately, however, the backups have been failing after just a small (i.e. 50-200MB) of data
is written to a tape during nightly backups. Each tape is marked as full after it fails and most of the
clients fail backup after that. After testing this during the day, I have discovered that the tape drive has
gone into a 'clean me' stage, with a readout of "<1> !" on the LCD display of the drive. Cleaning the drive
with a cleaning cartridge makes it go away, until the next backup of course.

Anybody ever seen this? I think that it's an indication of the tape drive being fried, but could it
be my scsi controller/shelf? Here is the error from the networker log - this occurs for each tape it tries
to write to. As mentioned, some clients do get backed up until it uses ALL of the tapes in the loader, obviously
using only a small portion of each tape and marking them as suspect/unusable.
