The GUI tool is dxlicense and the cmd line one is lmf.
After looking in dxlicense I found out what had happened:
The script I had run had put in a temp license for _everything_
including the base license that expired on the 31st of May next year.
For whatever reason it didn't like having both an expiring and a
non-expiring license and refused to do either.
I found all the duplicte licenses and delete the expiring ones and all
is now well again.
For those of you who are curious, I also receioeved an email as to how
to delete and recreate the license database, viz:
