UPDATE: Re: NFS over SSL?

Managers,

I have received three responses thanks to:
James Sainsbury
Jeremy Mates
Robert Carsey

1. Generally no because NFS uses TCP, UDP and RPC. There is a DES encrypted
software release but don't recall the details.
Another option would be a VPN or hacked up "PPP over SSL link" trick.
2. Alternatively an encrypted filesystem over an insecure connection
   perhaps? (eg CFS or TCFS)
3. Replace your RPC stack with securerpc

I haven't had a chance to explore any of the suggestions.

My motivation is to be able to mount a disk (in read-only mode) from a
machine inside a firewall to a machine outside the firewall.

Any opinions on how this can be done, given the above suggestions?

Thanks very much,
