changing keyboard layout/locale on XP1000

Dear gurus,

I recently received a used XP1000. It is now more or less working as
it should, except that it THINKS it has some keyboard other than
US English. Having to guess where '#', '\', and '|' are on a Unix
machine becomes a bit stale after a while.

How do I tell the machine I have a US English kbd? I am running
Tru64 Unix 4.0F with Patch Kit #4.

Thanks in advance
Gershom
