Hello,
I have a AlphaServer 2000 and after a chomp from the boss today,
I realize that I need to do more so that he knows what I am doing. I am
currently running 4.0e and doing an upgrade to 4.0g in about 1 week or
so.
How does everybody monitor the systems they manage?? Is there a way I
can collect the data and tell what is going on?? This is a system that
was set up before hand and I got thrown into it un prepared.
How do I watch for problems etc. When does Compaq stop the support for a
given version? How do I find out ahead of time??
Also my system is starting to degrade in performance. what is
recommended that I look at to see what I can recommend to improve the
sysytem performance and readiness. We use vdump and vrestore are there
other backup solutions that would improve our down time?? We backup
about 50 GB on the Tru64 Server. I also have other responsiblities that
I have been neglecting due to unfamiliarity with the OS's. (Open VMS and
AIX)
Basically what I am asking is there a place to start monitoring the
system and looking at ways to impove performance and readiness.
Thanks for all of your help.
