The short answer is that in most cases the DAC960's
wont work (some do some don't).
There are others who say that it may be possible to
modify the Firmware to make it work under certain
circumstances.
The following are some responses:
- (Will work) only if they have a 'true' DEC prom on
them (it changes the PCI ID string to match what Tru64
supports even though it's the exact same card)
- Unless one of them just happens to be 100%
compatible with the "SWXCR" backplane RAID controller
(or some other model number that translates to one of
the units built for the former Digital by Mylex)
- well you can buy one, and mess with the PCI-ID
strings in /etc/sysconfigtab
- mylex has an upgrade utility that you may be able to
use to push an image to it other than what they supply
in the upgrade kit
- The actual hardware is the same as the KZPSC-xx (
Raid Array 2xx ) controller, but Digital/Compaq use a
doctored verion of the firmware. Alpha systems will
not recognize a DAC960 that doesn't have this special
firmware in it. DAC 960 controllers come with 2
different flash rom sets, a one-chip set and a
two-chip set. If you have a DAC960 with the one-chip
set you could theoretically make it work with Tru64 by
flashing the Raid Array 200 firmware onto it
