Without rebooting these files can be re-made in the following ways...
 
> scu scan edt
or
> hwmgr -scan scsi
 
will make/remake the /dev/ntape and /dev/tape device files....
/dev/ntape/tape0_d1 etc..

in T64 5.0a ?
